倦怠にまみれた一日を刻む時計の音
おまえはただ無駄に時間を浪費していく
故郷の小さな土地をうろつきまわり、
お前を導いてくれる誰かか何かを待ち続ける

日だまりの中で寝そべる事に飽きて
家にいて中から雨を眺めてる
若いおまえにとって人生は長く
一日を無駄にしても時間は有り余る
だが　ある日
１０年が過ぎ去っている事に気付く
いつ走り出せばいいのか誰も教えてはくれない
お前はスタートの合図を聞き逃した

おまえは太陽に追いつこうとひたすら走る
だが　太陽は沈んだかと思うと
おまえの背後から再び姿を現わす
相対的には太陽は変わらないが
おまえだけが年老いていく
息は切れ
ある日、死の隣にまで近付く

毎年　一年が短くなり
時機は一向に見つかりそうにない
計画はすべて失敗に終わるか

静かな絶望に身をまかすのが
イギリスのやり方
時間は過ぎ　歌が終わる
